For some reason NPC in D13 can't keen whips, yet its a slashing weapon. I tried Keen Spell and it worked. I think it will be the same for other places that can keen weapons. Sharpening Stone doesn't work either.

i tried to keen my whips wherever it was available (all the NPC's that could keen your weapon). Seems like nothing works except getting a wizard/sorcerer to keen my whips. I hope it can be fixed.

I suspect that is intentional on the part of Bioware. Have you ever tried to sharpen a piece of leather?

whips are not piercing weapons. They are slashing type. Still i believe sharpening stone works on piercing weapons

I'm saying it shouldn't work. The laws of physics say that you can't sharpen a piece of leather. Magic works outside these laws so I'll accept that a work around.

A morningstar causes piercing (as well as bludgeoning) damage, does this mean you should be able to keen it?

If you want a higher crit range, pick a weapon with a higher crit range. Don't pick a weapon because it looks cool and complain that it has drawbacks.

Look, its the sharpest sphere in the known universe!! Of course it does more damage...

Perhaps his whip is made of monofilament wire, no more than a molecule in width, but impossible to break. Another alternative is that it is the twisted and braided hairs of Zue-Bagrothrob evil twin of Snagthorb the mighty. Such a whip should be keen and cause unrivaled damage. A base damage of 2d20 with a threat range of crit on a roll over a 1 should do.

However, taking this logic further, I think that a 1 is a fumble and should remove one random limb of the wielder. Roll a 1d6 with 5-6 representing the head for a vorpal effect, no save.

All sarcasm aside, as you first enter the mod, we are warned that you can specialize in certain weapons, the kukri for example, but you WILL NEVER FIND ONE IN THE MOD (emphasis mine). geek

what's your point here?
What does it say in description on keen spell or sharpening stone?
I am pretty sure it says all slashing melee weapons. It doesn't say anywhere excluding whips or whatever the reason would be.
Another thing is that smith and sharpening stone are based on keen spell so if the spell works than it should also work.

lets say you have permanent true seeing on an equipment. Why should you be able to see everything hidden if its against the physics law. There's no way you would see everything around you with piece of equipment. But since magic works outstide these laws i have no to accept it.

The sharpening stone works on those items I deemed could be sharpened. That's edged metal weapons, not piercing ones. I didn't add the whip, because I don't think whips should be keen. It doesn't matter to me if it's a slashing weapon or not. If the keen spell works on them, that's a good reason for me to alter the keen spell so it works on the same items as the sharpening stone. Then there would be no distinction between the two.

so is there really no way to sharpen such weapon as whip in real life? If something is used as a weapon there's always a way to sharpen that weapon.

You've been watching the Passion of the Christ too much... You'll be wanting little barbed hooks on them next.

Although, Not a bad idea for a weapon.

Wicked Scourge

Whip +15
2d8 Acid on hit lvl 20
2d8 Slashing
KEEN!
Whatever the property is that causes extra wounding.
