It's been awhile since I looked at the coding, but I think I described it elsewhere on this board. If I remember correctly, it's based on the item's level requirement, and you have to have at least 1/2 of the item level requirement in the appropriate class up to a maximum level of 15.

Try here.

http://ktnwn.forumotion.net/questions-about-kt-modifications-f4/bonuses-for-non-presitge-classes-t11.htm

but basically you need half the class levels in item level requirements stated unless you already have 15 levels in the necessary class.

So if you have an item that has a level restriction of 26 and only usable by a fighter, you need to be level 26 with 13 fighter levels to use it.

If you have an item that is level 40 to use and only usable by a fighter, you need to be level 40 with 15 levels of fighter.

NOTE. The level restriction does not take into account levels between 40 and 60, so if at level 40 you have a character split of 10 pally and 30 fighter, the game assumes that at level 60 the split is 20/40. This does not mean you will be able to use anything that is only usable by paladin.

I don't know where the legendary kit fits into this, I noticed recently when i rebuilt a lvl 60, i could still wear all my legendary gear while i was still level 1 because I had done all the special requirements. so I think legendary kit doesn't have the same class level restriction. So in theory you could have a level 1 pally wearing the pally set, provided he has killed the vile king.

Just checked this last night:
A Lvl 60 char of mine with 16 (pre-40) Rogue levels can use a Rogue Only Lvl-60 weapon and the Master Rogue Boots, which have Special usage requirements (in this case ...he could use them after obtaining the Dread Key)

You can wear some items of the Pally set after killing Dracula, and the rest you can wear after killing Mistress. There are, however, a couple of nice swords that you cannot equip until after you've beaten Vile King

Don't you need to kill the king in order to use the pally sword? or is that the rusty sword?

Those swords are not a part of the sets

Just a quick update about a side effect to this I found. Not really a glitch, but something worth considering.

Class levels do not stack when deciding if you have enough levels. For example a character split at 8 fighter/7 weapon master/25 anything else cannot use the Stout set that is usable only by fighter or weapon master even tho between those two classes you have 15 levels.

It needs to be 15 levels of a single one of the available classes.
