Have spell focus been modified at all if so how?

I know on one server I used to play they had for example if you took focus in Conjuration increased the AB and AC of the summons. Evocation increated the value of the buffs ...

Has anything like that been don eon this server? To date I haven't taken but 1 spel focus figuring they weren't all that important.

Thanks

Great question. I also wondered if spell focus has been modified. On one of the servers I played if you took greater spell focus in Conjuration a summon monster spell could summon 2 pets, and if you took epic spell focus it could summon 4 pets with 1 spell!

Wow, that would be quite the bonus for such little effort, expecially considering there are a number of items that grant spell focus for free (notably the wizard/sorc staves which I believe grant every spell focus feat for free...tho I havent played one in a while so I may be remembering incorrectly, might have been pieces of their sets?). Spell focus is already pretty good in NWN as it grants +2 to DC and then +4 to DC with greater focus and +6 with epic SF which was corrected in D&D 3.5 to be the more appropriate +1 for focus and +2 for greater focus. After epic levels (40+) it would be nice to see a commensurate build in save DC's tho..maybe +1 DC every 2 levels which would equate roughly to thus:

Lvl 40 Wiz: (Base DC lvl 9 spell 19 (10+SL) +Int 40 (+15)+ epic focus (+6) = DC 40)
Lvl 42 Wiz: +1 epic bonus DC 41
Lvl 44 Wiz: +1 epic bonus DC 42
Lvl 50 Wiz: DC 45
Lvl 60 Wiz: DC 50

Fairly decent...Sarah could take a look and decide. I know some of the things in D12+ have some extremely high save bonuses so adding some oomph to wizards/sorcerer DC's could be in order, or perhaps lowering some of those creatures saves might also be useful. The only problem I forsee with this would be in PvP as most players could never make those saves so it tends to screw over any non caster in PvP save a few.

People have asked about multiple summons in the past, and I've avoided it because I feel it will lag the server. There's already plenty of stuff going on without every mage having 4 pets.

I believe spell focus is important as it helps overcome spell resistance (not sure of this as I haven't messed with it in awhile).

The summons are based strictly on your mage level. They are automatically buffed as you go up in level. I still think they are fairly weak in the uber dungeons, so I'll likely have another go at them in the future. Summon a monster when you are level 1 and then try again when you are level 20. Compare the stats.

Spell penetration actually is what helps overcome SR..you can take spell penetration thru epic spell penetration to bypass SR.

Spell focus increases DC for a spell, where Spell penetration helps overcome a mobs spell resistance:

Epic spell focus
Type of Feat: (Epic) General
Prerequisite: Cast 9th level spells, 21st level, Greater Spell Focus (chosen school)
Specifics: The character gains a +6 to the difficulty class for all saving throws against spells from the chosen school of magic.

Epic Spell Penetration
Type of Feat: (Epic) Metamagic
Prerequisite: 21st level, Greater Spell Penetration
Specifics: The character gains a +6 bonus on caster level checks to beat a creature's Spell Resistance.

My head hurts... I knew there was a reason I don't build magic users.

I run my own saving throw script on top of Bioware's script. In other words, I start with their standard saving throw and modify it for the KT extended levels. I never actually checked to make sure their script properly accounts for spell focus. I assume it does.
